Truthful Tuesdays: The Meaning Of Christmas

Merry Christmas, Friends!!!

I hope your day, like mine, is full of family and fun!

But before we dive into our own celebrations, let’s all take a minute to say a prayer for those grieving families in Connecticut who are not yet able to create new memories of joy.

Being that this blog is centered around my passion for food, my lack of a love life, and the general ramblings of a confused 25 year old, I rarely delve into my faith, even though it plays a huge part in my life.  In fact it is (or should be more) the center of my being and my reason for living.  So today, I’d like to take a second and open that door for you by taking a look at the age old question, what is the true meaning of Christmas?  I know it’s a bit of a throwback, but my all time favorite Christmas movie A Charlie Brown Christmas nails the answer right on the head.  We live in a world where materialism has seemingly become the meaning of Christmas, but let’s not  forget where is all started 2000+ year ago.

CHARLIE BROWN

Charlie Brown:  “Isn’t there ANYONE who knows what Christmas is all about?!?!

Linus: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’

You see Charlie Brown?  THAT is what Christmas is all about.

XOXO,

Tall One
